A love letter to 2025 - The year that changed my entire life
How was your year?
Maybe you had good and bad moments. Maybe you had a horrible year, but just know you can start over again next year. That is how I felt in 2024 when I had the worst year of my life.
And this year?
This year was one of the best years, if not the best year, I ever had. It was difficult, wonderful, and filled with the changes I wanted for my entire life. Last year, I didn’t expect much from this year; the theme of my year was: Step out of your comfort zone.
Oh, how I did this year.
For around four years, I have kept feeling and saying: 2025 is my year. When I am 25 years old, everything will change!
I had no idea why or how, but I keep saying this to everyone, and just my best friend didn’t tell me I am delusional. And when I had such a bad 2024, wanting to give up on everything, I suddenly, in the haze of ‘Everything is bad’, I reminded myself about this.
I have to admit, I planned the year a bit differently, wanted to lock in some more goals, I know I have next year now, because I never thought I would finally move out this year. I made the decision and worked on it just in April. But that changed some goals, and I am so grateful it did.
The year started with bronchitis, I have it till today, here and there, coming back like it wants to be my best friend, so I am really good with tips and tricks to keep pushing through to something that isn’t pleasant to have. I never had something like this in my life, and I thought I was about to lose it most of the time.
Despite this, I was determined to work on my goals and change my life. I just didn’t want my life to look the same as in 2024. When I had this horrible last year, I decided to move out, but honestly? I never thought I would do this just the year after that.
I remember when I heard the Quote: “Your complete life can change in just a year.”
And I always thought that was delusional, how could just one year change everything? Sounds like someone is delusional. Here is my official apology, since my life changed in just a year. Even when it was financially tough.
It was so worth it.

I moved out of my toxic home, archived a lot of things I wanted to, I started a new hobby, I opened and posted on Substack (Even when I was terrified of this), and worked through a lot of issues.
If you had told me that last year, I would’ve laughed and not believed it. So, if you ever have a hard time, you can see in my story that it really can get better. And that your life really can change in a year, even when you always thought it couldn’t.
The things I achieved this year are so dear to me, even when a year is not always lovely. I had rough and good times; it’s a natural process, but I knew why I had to go through this. Sorting everything out with my apartment, the problems that came with this, but the rewards made everything so much worth it. Having a space, a home, something you create in your safe space, is something so special.
This year, I was really sick, I cried, and thought more than anything. I was anxious and uncomfortable with stepping out of my comfort zone. But I also laughed and danced more than anything.
This year was one of my favorite years, and I am looking forward to the next. Life is not easy; you always have something come up, maybe face some hardships. It’s the thought that you always remember it won’t stay like this forever.
So, this is my love letter to the year that made me the happiest. The year that was a challenge. Yet, also the year that made me grow. I am not the same person I was last year around this time.
Do you have any favourite moments this year? I’d love to read about them!
My life changed significantly this year, and I could write a lot about it in this post. It’s been a lovely year. The theme I chose for this year is something I really accomplished.
Yet, also take this as a reminder that it is okay if you don’t achieve all your goals because they have changed over the year, and you aren’t aligned anymore. I planned my year differently, more things I wanted to do, but the opportunity to move out threw it out the window. Something I've had on my vision board for years has now become a reality, and I jumped at the opportunity.
For that, I gladly moved some of my goals into the next year; I had other priorities now, which were totally worth it.
For everyone reading this, if you had a good or bad year, I really wish you guys have a good next year. And even if you don’t know me, I am proud of everything you achieved, the smallest and the biggest.
For those reading this on New Year's Day: I wish you a happy New Year🎆
Never forget that you always have the opportunity to start. I never wait till the new year to start! You can also start over in the middle of the year; you have your own rules you can play by.
xx
Lena
