The 'laziness' that is important

Slowing down doesn't mean being lazy

This post might be a bit shorter; I don’t know yet, but I have something going on with a nerve in my shoulder. I can barely move it, and the pain is absolutely horrible, but I wanted to at least write something small.

And this topic is something I am passionate about; it’s a belief I hear way too often. It’s like some people don’t understand that slow life doesn’t mean lazy. Quite opposite, actually.

I am a really productive person; if I didn’t know how important balance and slowing down are, I would probably be doing something every minute of the day. I am writing this with a barely moving arm, so I think that proves it a bit, haha.

But slowing down is important for a lot of aspects in your life. Especially for your hormones, stress, and the way you feel. I don’t know about you, but when I get too stressed, I always have physical symptoms that I get sick. It will knock me out a lot!

Slowing down doesn’t mean you are lazy; it means you take breaks, enjoy the quiet things in life that most people overlook. You breathe and be present in the moment, noticing the things that are around you. It means you have balance, some days you will have more to do, and some days, it’s just taking a day off for yourself.

What I noticed in the moment I slow down, get cozy: I have the most ideas in these moments. If you are present with yourself, see and notice the beauty around you that you overlook in the stressful moments. It will help your creativity a lot!

Laziness is the furthest away from slowing down. You might have a ‘lazy day’, but I like to call these days “Recharging day.” For me, it’s totally normal to have these days.

Slowing down means what the word already says, you are slowing down, but you are not staying stuck. You are not freezing and not moving at all; it’s not making an excuse to do nothing for months on end. It means simply moving slower, more intentionally, taking a break when needed, be present.

So, never let anyone tell you it’s laziness because it is not the same thing, as I said, it’s the furthest thing from it. Slowing down is good for your mental health, your creativity, and your hormones. And so much more.

I create the most in the moment, I am more present with myself and what is going on around me. It’s knowing yourself the best, and what is best for you. Even when I am struggling with whatever is going on with my shoulder nerve, I am writing because I feel like I can do this. If I at any point would say, no it’s getting too much, I would stop.

This is a short post. I hope I will be able to move my arm better without the pain soon. I will definitely write a longer post when I can!

If you like, you can write down in the comments what your favourite slowing down habits or moments are!

I love everything cozy, I could live in a blanket, wearing a sweater with a warm drink, and read, watch a movie, or write. Sometimes I love to listen to the birds outside. I love ravens, that’s why I have a little one on my finger. My favourite is seeing them in the meadow in front of my apartment complex, hearing them, and crows with the little birds

xx
